My three-year-old, Aliya, attends the Terrific Tots program at My Gym once a week. She enjoys free play at My Gym especially since the playground structure is changed weekly. She also gets to mix around with children of her own age group.

The program focuses on listening skills as well as gymnastics. What I like about My Gym is not only do the children gain confidence, the program also improves their strength and flexibility, manipulative skills and hand-eye coordination. In fact, I’ve seen a lot of improvement in my own child. Aliya’s listening skills has improved a great deal and she’s definitely more confident and stronger since she joined My Gym.

However, it comes with a price. I’ve just forked out three hundred dollars for another eight lessons at My Gym. I’m just wondering whether I should let her continue till the end of the year. Unlike the typical “kiasu” (extreme fear of losing) parent in Singapore, I haven’t sent Aliya to other enrichment classes. There’s a lady I know at My Gym, who sends her kid to five different enrichment courses. In my opinion, that’s too much for a three-year-old kid. I was thinking of sending Aliya for music lessons, but I’m in no rush to send her for more courses. Let her enjoy her childhood first.
